The calla lilies vendor

A young woman sells calla lilies in the market every week. All her family owns is a small patch of land and a tiny house in the middle of it. She works hard, caring for the flowers and for the little friends that seem to like calla lilies a little too much! These little winged, feathered snakes one day appeared, attracted by these flowers, and they haven’t left since.

The young woman prepares very early in the morning to bring lots of flowers and hopefully earn some money for the family to live off. The road is long and harsh on her legs and feet, because lots of flowers are too heavy. One day, the little flying snakes started following her to the market, and out of nowhere, they decided to help her carry the flowers, making it easier for her to handle.

Now they do that every weekend, they go out early and set up quickly at the market. And the little feathered snakes have become a sensation with the people visiting. It’s not often that magical creatures allow people to get close to them, so they have lots of visitors all the time.

She and her family take care of the flower field and protect the little creatures from harm, and the little creatures help however they can to make sure the family is also safe when they tend the field or go to the market. They are the best team ever!

About this artwork

The drawing measures 8in x 10in and was created on a 8.5in x 11in mixed media paper. I created it using pens, pencil and a bit of white paint.

It includes a warm white mat.
