Smile – Miniature painting
by Dianita
When society traps us, we begin to believe everything we’re told. A long time ago, I started seeing more images of women (female representing people) losing their smiles in exchange of this mysterious look in their faces. Like, smiling was not valuable anymore.
Days ago, a friend reminded me of not letting society to dictate what I want to portray. It’s easy to lose the way to what we think everyone wants. I was working on this painting, and I was second guessing myself if I should have done a more serious expression.
But her smile was just too special. And I thought of something long established in my heart:
“Smiling is a form of resistance”.
And then this tiny painting finally made sense. Warm, happy and not complicated. Just a Gorgon smiling, to remind you that if the world wants to erase your true self, you resist!
About this painting:

2.5in x 3.5in. Framed to approximately 3.65in x 4.65in. This is a very small painting.
