The friends we made along the way

by Dianita

Life is hectic. It brings us from here to there. Sometimes we feel settled, sometimes it makes us fly to other places. Just as seasons change, life follows the same rule.

It stays the same for some time. A new heartbreak, a new adventure. A new hello and many goodbyes. All is temporal, but memories get to stay with us with every step we give. In those memories, we keep the souls that lived with us through our days. Our adventures together, our sadness, all that made us what we are today.

No one knows where the road will take us. What I do know is that we keep gathering this treasure that transcends change, the one that we’ll take with us when our next chapter begins. The friends we met along the way is a phrase that got lots of meaning as I moved from home. Memories with those amazing people, that even for one day, got to be in our lives. We smiled together, we cried, we hurt each other. We cherished them, and maybe we let them go. Or maybe we still spend our seasons together, close or in the distance.

My treasure is every one of you. May this new Spring or Fall brings you a friend, human or creature to witness your life. To be there and share their lives with you. Even for a second, or decades. Cherish them until it’s time to move to other adventures, apart or maybe together.

One thing is for sure. I’m lucky to live in the same time as the ones I love.

About this piece:

I’ve always thought that friends are like unicorns. They can look as average as any human or pet, but they’re magical and they infuse our life with love, admiration and excitement.

Someone as regular can change our lives, just like an unicorn appearing out of nowhere, right?

Spring is one of my favorite seasons. New adventures begin, new growth, new colors. I really wanted to portray a nod to Spring this time.
