Dryad
Original Art by Brenda Lyons
At times I wish the gods would transform me into a tree. I would stand rooted, strong, enduring. Able to experience countless seasons, growing fairer and wiser with age, never fearing what the next year will bring. Hearing the songs of each day and reaching higher each year to sun and moon.
As others grow around me, my home would become the forest I have always dreamed of living within.
Ink and ink washes on cold-press watercolor paper, 11X14 inches. Matted and framed to 16X20 inches.

About the Artist
Brenda Lyons
An illustrator who loves birds and the worlds of nature and myth. My medium of choice is watercolor, as well as acrylic, ink, and graphite. I've created coloring books for the Cornell Lab Publishing Group and teach illustration at RMCAD. I spend my summers working on wildlife and glacier boats on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, where I get lots of artistic inspiration.
