The Faery’s Tale

The kitten has first caught sight of her a few days ago. A skittish, skinny thing, she had initially only seen a scant glimpse of whiskers or ears through the forest’s scattered shadows.

When she’d settled on one of her favourite lichen covered logs, her legs kicking in the air gently as she read aloud from the book, to her delight, the creature found the courage to approach her. Little by little, her voice lured him in, until today, as the tale had reached its crescendo, he’d finally settled down right next to her, his soft breath occasionally ruffling her hair, intently leaning over her as she revealed the hero’s fate.

There’s nothing better than the wonder of a good yarn, except maybe having a fluffy companion snuggle up next to you to share it.

5 x 7 inches, watercolour and gouache on hot press watercolour paper. There is also some very subtle shimmer paint used on the faery’s wings and the lichen on the log.
