Birdie
Original Art by Leah Mitchell
I’ve kept parakeets (and parrots) since I was 8 years old, and every one of them has always wanted to sit on my head, or anyone’s head really! My very first parakeet looked just like this one, yellow and green and although he died when I was pretty young, he will always be my favorite. In the third picture you can see my Sun Conure helping me paint! Portrait of a young woman with a parakeet. Oil on shaped wood panel, in the style of a Renaissance portrait, approx 8×11. Painted in 2025.
