With fear, with love

After a long project, I’ve found myself a little bit lost. I think it’s common, but it’s hard to go through this! I’ve been struggling to create art and it’s not fun… Am I doing this correctly? Am I good enough? Will I improve? So many questions and no answer comes right away.

This piece is inspired in a drawing that I made over 10 yrs ago. I tried draw an artist connected to her art. At first, it was just a fun way to give life to an old idea. But through the process, I started doubting… Do I add skulls? Will they make sense? Should I go for something different?

And I laughed… because I was going through the same feeling that my drawing was trying to translate. Go figure!

That’s when it became clear, and the words from a teacher appeared again in my mind: “You’ll find the answers as you keep working”.

So, it all made sense and this is how this piece started to take shape. Everyone goes through this, some with more struggles than others. Over-thinkers like me do this all the time! We start with an idea, then we start putting all into our work. And then, the obstacles come and we either stop and walk away, or we fight it.

Defeating fear is not a straight forward process, but as we escape its claws we find the way to push forward and continue shaping what we want to create. From fear, we find new ways and we grow, and from love we start and push to the finishing line.

Finishing this was a wonderful experience, I’m happy to share it with you all.
