The Hermit

The Hermit is a card of quiet contemplation; the knowledge that can only come from meditating on life’s mysteries alone. Introspection is required to find the answers to your inner questions, and taking a step back from a situation that’s bothering you may give you the insight and breathing room to see more clearly. The Hermit’s defining visual is the lantern he raises to the dark, and the Chinese Lantern (winter cherry) mimics the shape its shape well. In Japan, this fruiting plant also symbolizes a guiding force to the souls of the dead, leading them to a peaceful post-existence.
