I’ve grown fond of Qianzhousaurus in recent years. Although the dinosaur is known informally as ‘Pinocchio’ in some palaeontology circles, I’ve never felt it was an apt nickname. The whole snout doesn’t register to me as the separate structure of a nose, nor is it peculiarly long; it’s just much more gracile. In fact, with such dragonesque elegance, I rather think ‘Qianzhoulong‘ (‘Qianzhou dragon’) would suit it even better as a name.
