Microvision

There’s little I can say about Tran’s work that hasn’t been said. Years ago I curated a show and invited Tran to contribute and I was so in love with the craft of this piece, I bought it myself. The show was intended to spotlight “emerging” and established artists. Tran sort of defies categorization as she consistently develops and surprises with her work. I love this piece for what it is, and also for the moment in time it was in her career.

Tran Nguyen is a Vietnamese freelance artist best known for her book illustrations and fine art, which focus on figurative art, nature, and the intricacies of the human condition. Her work is traditionally painted with acrylics and colored pencils on watercolor paper, and it possesses an air of fantasy and surrealism. She has collaborated with clients such as Penguin Random House, Disney, Wizards of the Coast, Marvel Comics, and Smithsonian magazine to bring their stories to life.
