Spring has sprung, and with it lots and lots of flowers! It seems like every tree is abloom – cherry, apple, peach, plum. I spotted this lovely birdflower hidden among an apple tree in my backyard. They have quite good camouflage!

Gouache on soft-press watercolor paper, 9 X 13.5 inches. This painting is double-matted to 14 X 18 inches.

About the Artist

Brenda Lyons

An illustrator who loves birds and the worlds of nature and myth. My medium of choice is watercolor, as well as acrylic, ink, and graphite. I've created coloring books for the Cornell Lab Publishing Group and teach illustration at RMCAD. I spend my summers working on wildlife and glacier boats on the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska, where I get lots of artistic inspiration.
