In Arcadia
by Natasa Ilincic
“Or poi che o nulli o pochi ti pareggiano
a cantar versi sì leggiadri e frottole,
deh canta omai, che par che i tempi il cheggiano.”
“And because so few of us compare to you
in the way you sing light verses and rhymes,
go ahead and sing, for it seems the times call for it.”
(Arcadia, 1504, Jacopo Sannazaro)
