Dissonance
by Cassandra Brown
An owl stares from a shattered mirror, its bright golden eyes multiplied across a web of cracks. Each fragment reflects a slightly different self. The pieces no longer fit together as they once did.
The owl, a symbol of wisdom and perception, becomes both observer and subject, trapped within its own fractured reflection. There’s beauty here, but also dissonance: clarity seen through distortion, strength emerging through loss.
The mirror does not simply reflect what’s broken, it reveals transformation. Healing, it suggests, is not a return to the unshattered self, but an acceptance of the fragments and the story they form together. In stillness, we see not the damage, but the quiet becoming that follows.
This painting is on stretched canvas and the edges are painted. The back has a wire for hanging.
