I set my path with sails and maps,
Determined, though we’d overlap,
Through all the faces, horizons new,
I didn’t know awaited you

At the crossroads of all my tales,
With one my heart was not to fail,
Countries covered and so much lost,
Curiosity at such a cost

Across the seas and long I roamed,
And yet the treasure I called was home

Followed the signs of gods and crows,
The answer lay under my nose,
Found the quests I begged them for,
And then I’m back, the same old door

About the Artist

Carolin Leary Prinn

Carolin creates her works from a love of myth, history, the human journey and recollections from her world travels. Utilising a classical but also illustrative use of watercolours, pen and ink and traditional dry media, her works evoke her mythical world - The Islands of Niljora - which she began penning from a young age, and that has developed into the rich symbolism and storytelling behind her works. Delicate and ethereal, complex and full of exquisite detail, her works elicit an otherworldly realm of tales within tales. Granted a full time scholarship, Carolin completed her degree with Honours at The Savannah College of Art & Design. Alongside exhibiting in The United States, New Zealand and Europe, she has engaged in projects for books, covers and magazines, and been selected to feature in publications including The International A.R.C. Salon Catalogue, Beautiful Bizarre Magazine, Infected By Art, Hyperlux Magazine and Fabled Magazine. Her works can be found in collections in The United States, Europe, New Zealand, Australia and India and her books are part of the permanent heritage collections of New Zealand's National Libraries and beyond.
