“Blue Ridge Parkway Tunnel” is a 4 inch round oil painting on copper, painted on location from life last year on a section of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, NC. Copper is a unique and very special substrate, because you can paint directly on it with oil paint and it is perfectly archival. The copper adds luminosity to the paint, and where tiny bits of it are exposed here and there, it glints and shifts in the light when the painting is viewed. It’s truly a magical effect! The painting is varnished to protect the paint and preserve the shine of the copper.
The painting is signed and dated on the back and archivally mounted and float matted in an 8×8 inch wood frame. There is no glass, because oil paintings are known to naturally off-gas and will cloud any glass placed over them over time. The piece is ready to hang, or sit on shelf or table.
