“Doughnut Couture” by Leah Mitchell
Original Art by Leah Mitchell
“Doughnut Couture” is a 14×11 oil painting on cradled panel. Part of a larger series of paintings called “the Pastriarchy” by artist Leah Mitchell.
“The Pastriarchy” is a series of paintings of women in dresses and accessories made out of or decorated with doughnuts. The paintings are about the way consumer goods: clothing, accessories, and often food, blur the lines between consumer and consumed. In 2024 this painting was part of Leah Mitchell’s solo show “Of Pastries and Paradox” at the Wright Museum of Art in Beloit WI.
