Clown faces or “payasos” often appear in Chicano Culture and tattoos. They carry diverse meanings, ranging from symbols of comedy and tragedy, resilience and duality of life, and death. It can have personal interpretations of sadness and happiness, good and bad, lack of love and abandonment, femininity and strength, overcoming challenges, hidden emotions, to representations of cultural identity and personal experiences.
