Eudimorphodon

Original Art by Owen Weber

Alive in the Late Triassic period, about 210-203 million years ago, Eudimorphodon is one of the earliest known pterosaurs to have been discovered.  It was quite small, it’s wingspan only measuring to be about 3.3 ft.  Eudimorphodon had an extraordinary amount of teeth, about 110 densely packed into a jaw about 6 cm long!  It most likely fed on fish, but may also have had an insect diet.

It’s been a little while since I’ve painted a pterosaur, and since I’m focussing on the Triassic era I was limited in my choices.  Although this pterosaur may not have a cool crest on it’s head, it does have a nice smile.
