Study of the King of Cups
Original Art by Kevin Jay Stanton
This is a study of Centaurium on paper for the painting that will be the King of Cups on a wooden panel soon. It’s been a while since I’ve painted so I thought it’d be good to ease in to the remaining 54 cards I have to paint! The flower is in the family Chironieae named for the immortal Chiron from Greek mythology, who Homer called “the wisest and justest of all centaurs.” It was known in the ancient world to be a flower with many healing properties.
3.3×5.2″ on paper, unframed
