Ex Nihilo- from nothing

by Allen Williams

The graphite piece and the sculpt cast are representative of my current process.

The partially submerged skull/cranium is representational of the concept of emergence… Ex Nihilo…from nothing, and is present in both pieces.

The original sculpt was achieved in Sculpy, molded then cast in plaster. Victoria mounted the sculpt to a black painted base with hot glue, then framed both the drawing and cast.

Original graphite image about 4 x 6” on Arches 300# hot press paper.

This piece is framed in a 4 x 6” wooden frame.

Also included is a plaster caste of an original sculpture in a 5 x 6″ frame
