This was my entry to the Folio Society 2024 Illustration competition, inspired by the short story “The Truth is a Cave in the Black Mountains”. I really enjoyed experimenting with very wet media for this piece, letting the bleeding pigments dictate the mood. This is a rare non-portrait from me!

Amber Feng

Amber recently decided to pursue illustration full-time after a lifetime of drawing and painting as a hobbyist. She loves to paint figures in surreal scenes, heavily inspired by a childhood of anime and fantasy. Outside of art, Amber likes to dabble in ceramics and other crafty hobbies, play video and tabletop games, read fantasy novels, and chase her two year old around the house.
