The Golden Hour

Smooth surfaces catch the paint much nicer than canvas.  Because of the smooth surface more broken colors can be added minutely adding more color harmony  and more atmosphere to the overall color spaces.  I really like capturing dramatic lighting and a good back-lit face with light passing through the hair is a very tempting subject to capture.  This is a small oil painting on a 6″ x 6″ primed panel, full color palette by DaVinci Oils and painted with Rosemary Sables and Escoda Bristles.
