Heart Strings

by Valerie Savarie

This piece is made from a book titled The Story of 100 Operas, published 1940. Inside could be found a page or two from the scripts of 100 said operas.

Although I did not read them all, La Boheme, made a connection within my creative thoughts. One of the characters, Mimi, works as an embroiderer/seamstress, which is a perfect fit for my art. The hand embroidered frame is sewn with three different shades of pink vintage thread. The title Heart Strings is a sort of play on words – the strings of a sewer – and indeed it is an opera about love.
