“Beyond the edge of forest deep, and under the giants’ shadow

A place to rest, to revive and keep, between the sunspots’ glow

Tucked away in the hall of moss, of spruce and twig and leaf

The dragon’s place, a favorite spot, with Sitka to lie beneath.”

Inspired by a spot I found while hiking in the Hoa Rainforest, Olympic Peninsula, Washington State

Painted in watercolor and gouache.
Artwork is 9×6 inches, conservation mounted and double matted to fit a standard 11×14 inch frame (please use UV glass when framing).
Mat colors are burnt umber and deep muted forest green.

Katie Croonenberghs

Katie is a fantasy artist based in the greater Seattle area. Specializing in watercolor and currently exploring gouache, her focus is on fantastical creatures with strong roots in our natural world.

Landscapes and environments play a large role in her works as a result of growing up surrounded and inspired by majestic scenery of Montana, and further fed by the beauty of the Pacific North West.

Recurring themes in her work include dragons and other elegant mythical or magical creatures in fully rendered landscapes and environments - often times filled with plenty of trees and rocks.
