Stillness

In the past weeks I’ve seen a few monarch butterflies visiting my small native plants corner. They hesitate a lot when a person is moving close to them. Of course, if I’m close, I always stand still to see if they land on a flower. They look so pretty, and they make me so happy!

Honestly, I think that we all feel that we need to keep moving or life is going to escape us. I’ve been feeling like that since I’ve had to slow down my pace to make art for physical health reasons. This is why, when I found this little drawing, I thought of the butterflies visiting and how standing still allows me to have a beautiful sight that not many people get to see this close. As having to slow down or pause art creation has allowed me to re-discover things that I love, like reading, writing or just doodling little things for myself.

I created this drawing a few years ago, but I’ve kept it with me in my personal collection. These are not monarch butterflies, but I’ve always loved these because of their lovely blue color. I wanted to give it a chance to find a lovely home, where it can help to remind you that it’s ok to pause and perhaps something that you’ve been missing will appear in front of you. Giving you a beautiful memory that will last a lifetime.
