Maybe it’s my ninja training, but I’ve always loved the idea of a stealthy Robin Hood. When I had my first exhibit at the Daniel Maghen gallery in Paris, I knew right away that I wanted to paint my version of Robin. This is the drawing I did to prepare for that painting.

About the Artist

Greg Manchess

Gregory Manchess’ versatile oil paintings have been widely awarded in illustration, showcased for countless books and magazines such as Time, Rolling Stone, The Atlantic, and National Geographic. He has painted numerous USPS stamps including the 2023 Snow Globes Christmas series and the March On Washington Forever Stamps. His illustrations are highlighted in the Coen Brothers movie, The Ballad of Buster Scruggs, and recently his mission patch designs accompanied the NASA astronauts to the International Space Station. He is the author, artist, and playwright of the novel, Above the Timberline. He lectures at universities across the country and teaches online at SmArter Art School. Gregory will be inducted into the NY Society’s Illustration Hall of Fame in September, 2024.
