Imagine Hellboy, but with Tilda Swinton as a starting point? That’s where I went with this piece. They are painted in oil over a background comprised of two collaged images, which have been protected by a layer of art resin. I like to jump start my work with found imagery, then paint on top of it, letting some disappear forever behind the oil paint, and other parts stay visible. While the oil is still open, I can create and destroy until I like the result, or if it dries and it still needs help, I can sand parts down to reveil the background elements once again. This was a project begun at the Illustration Master Class and finished at home, and has been featured in the 2022 Spotlight Showcase at Arch Enemy Arts in Philadelphia.
