Years ago, when I was in a very dark place, I had an incredibly vivid dream. A druid woman sat across a small stream and stared me down, gold eyes unblinking, as I talked on and on of broken dreams and promises and despair. Suddenly, she reached out and snatched my arm, twisting it so the pale skin flashed in the dawn light.
“Look,” she commanded.
I did. Swirls and whorls bloomed on my skin, punctuated by the feathered silhouettes of birds- hawks, maybe, or owls.
“Look at them, look at the Birds of Prey, spiraling and spiraling up and up and-” I gasped as the they blossomed into life, breaking free of my skin, calling and twisting and soaring up into the early morning sky, wingtips brushing the rising sun.
“Follow the Birds of Prey,” her grip moved down my arm and she squeezed my hand, “Follow them, and you’ll never be lost in darkness again.”
And I always have.

It happened AGAIN. I framed a piece. Do I have a photo of it!? Y E S. I know, I know, who *AM* I?
The size of the original itself is 5″x5″, and the frame is 9″x9″, and this snowy owl is MUCH braver than his fellow birds*, I’m sure he’ll make it through the mail just fine.
* Please don’t tell the other birds I said that. I’m still in trouble with them for the betta fish incident.
