Enchanted Grimoire

A 7.5”x 12.25” watercolor on hot press watercolor paper, with prismacolor line art and a little gouache as needed. Originally painted for the Creatures of the Night oracle deck that accompanied 78 Tarot’s Halloween tarot deck, this watercolor embraces the sensibility of the Victorian Halloween cards that inspired the project.

This is the liveliest, friendliest grimoire I’ve painted.  It would be more at home in Oz than in darker, more modern fantasy lands. That’s fine, I like Oz.  I do think it’s nice that this book is not actually trying to to eat anyone. Admittedly it’s twirling some paper around, maybe lighting up the room at bit… but really, not in a bad way.

This artwork is not a standard size.  No rights are transferred with sale.  Any import fees are the responsibility of the buyer.  Shipping to the UK and EU is, alas, unavailable due to VAT.
