This piece is an 8″ by 10″ oil painting on a board. It comes with a wood frame that has the outer dimensions of 9″ by 11″.

For the second piece in my four elements series, I chose a red-sided garter snake to represent Earth. I called on a few different influences for this piece, including tattoo art, stained glass windows, and a childhood spent looking at cottonwood trees in Kansas.

Makenna Karp

Makenna Karp is a fantasy illustrator and oil painter specializing in illustrations for board games and book covers.

Commencing her formal art education at Pratt Institute in 2019, Makenna took a different path after a year, immersing herself in traditional painting and drawing at Watts Atelier from 2021 to 2023.

Currently, she calls northern California home. When she's not painting, she can be found climbing rocks or wandering through the redwoods.
