My morning stop for coffee also happens to be a flower shop, and they had some lovely bouquets of flowers on display that offered some nice references. (Picture included.) As my fascination with carnivorous plants continues, I wanted to further explore this theme with the surreal in mind. You never know what might actually exist out there, so be careful where you walk this spring.
The piece is an original pencil drawing, embellished with acrylic paint using my airbrush to darken the mouths and shadows. I also refinished a worn antique frame (it has a few thin cracks/chips) to give it a smooth grey-to-black fade around the sides. The corners have tiny flower carvings that pair nicely with the piece.
