Boukyou: Nostalgia

by Reiko Murakami

Being a first generation immigrant in the US and now having a multi race child, I decided to start working on a series that focuses on the definition of one’s cultural identity. This is the first one of the series, titled boukyou (望郷), meaning “Nostalgia”, or one’s longing for their homeland, in Japanese.

3 inch x 3 inch graphite mixed media in an approx. 8 inch x 8 inch frame.
