As You Slumber

This piece explores a series I’ve begun called “Witchy Witches,” which (no pun intended) began with sketches of whimsical and sassy ladies with fabulous witch hats. The illustrations combined everything I loved about drawing; engaging eyes, wispy hair, organic flowing mark making, and a sense of wonder. I’m unsure if “As You Slumber” will be a part of my ongoing series. She has helped me explore how I want the series to be. I still very much enjoy the final result. I hope she finds a new home.

I do not spray my chalk pastels with fixative since it distorts the colors. It will travel well, arrive matted and ready for framing.

Known for her captivatingly ethereal artwork in chalk pastel, Ashly Lovett is an illustrator, writer and gallery artist.
