9 of Cups

“The Dragon sits coiled content among his cups, basking in the joys and abundance of life.”

I had the incredible honor of participating in the 78 Tarots Mythical deck this year and received the 9 of cups as my piece. The prompt was quite tricky as my card was intended to have an Asian-themed dragon on it. Since there has been a plethora of Japanese and Chinese representation in Dragon art, I decided to go more Thai based.

This illustration was one of the first pieces I was able to complete in my new studio and gallery at Provo Towne Centre Mall, Drawn to Dragons. Quite a few people were able to watch me complete this piece in person and it was a joy to listen to everyone’s comments on my work and answer questions as I painted.
