Memento Mori

monochrome green watercolor painting of a portrait of a Victorian lady. Her eyes are white and she's painted in a ghostly glow, she has mushrooms emerging from her shoulders and head, and she's surrounded by moths flying around her head.

Original Art by Michelle Hunt

A spirit slowly succumbing to inevitable decay, she knows neither her name nor what century she is in. Fear and longing mingle on her brow, her only company now the moths that find themselves attracted to her ethereal glow as she haunts dark halls. Unlike her, they are fleeting, just a whisper of existence, while she lingers on in a half-seen world. All she knew of her life has been lost to time, and only her melancholy soul remains. Ghosts and spirits remind us of things that were, and connect us to a past that no longer exists, or perhaps never existed at all.

This painting is made with watercolor and waterproof ink on 100% cotton paper. It measures 5″x7″ and ships flat, unframed, in a protective plastic sleeve.
