I have been working, off and on, with gold leaf stars in my paintings for a few years now. They are meant to give light to the permanence stars feel during our short lifetimes. I have been placing these stars in different places and different scenarios, showing the lack of permanence in our ever changing world. Even though many things change or decay or die off, the stars will always be there shining down on our world. Throughout art history, they have always brought meaning to artists, whether religious or spiritual, they have been a constant theme, and I wanted to bring my take to that thematic element. These mammoths may have died off, but many of the same stars they may have looked upon would be the same stars we see today.
