“Drawn to fresh, glittering waters, glacial fed and icy cold

Blue and green dance, swirl and crash. Patience. Wait, and hold.

The prize is there, hidden. The wealth of streams so pure.

She leans in closer to see her meal, and strikes, her aim is sure.”

This is a continuation of a long series of dragon paintings in the PNW and surrounding mountain regions. The series is intended to join fantasy with nature in a way that reminds us of home.
Inspired by the many glacial streams found in the North Cascades.
Poem also written by Katie, created specifically for this piece.

Painted in watercolor and gouache, signed in black ink (all media pro-grade, lightfast)
Artwork is 9×6 inches, conservation mounted and double matted to fit a standard 11×14 inch frame (UV glass highly recommended).
Mat colors are muted forest green and dark gray.

About the Artist

Katie Croonenberghs

Katie is a fantasy artist based in the greater Seattle area. Specializing in watercolor and currently exploring gouache, her focus is on fantastical creatures with strong roots in our natural world. Landscapes and environments play a large role in her works as a result of growing up surrounded and inspired by majestic scenery of Montana, and further fed by the beauty of the Pacific North West. Recurring themes in her work include dragons and other elegant mythical or magical creatures in fully rendered landscapes and environments - often times filled with plenty of trees and rocks.
