Rising Through the Mists

“Morning mist coated the hills, the trees

It filled the air with blanketed ease

As quiet song and forest lullaby

A great spread of wings lifted into the sky

It pulled the mist in tendrils hewn 

And ascended the kingdom of mountains high”

 

Inspired in part by the misty morning landscape of a Washington forest hillside

 

Painted in watercolor and a bit of gouache.
Artwork is 6×9 inches, conservation mounted and double matted to fit a standard 11×14 inch frame (please use UV glass when framing).
Mat colors are grey and deep forest green.

Katie is a fantasy artist based in the greater Seattle area. Specializing in watercolor and currently exploring gouache, her focus is on fantastical creatures with strong roots in our natural world.

Landscapes and environments play a large role in her works as a result of growing up surrounded and inspired by majestic scenery of Montana, and further fed by the beauty of the Pacific North West.

Recurring themes in her work include dragons and other elegant mythical or magical creatures in fully rendered landscapes and environments - often times filled with plenty of trees and rocks.
