The Wrens and the Bees

This piece was inspired by a wren nest we discovered in the garage this spring. It was nestled inside a little cardboard box on top of a shelf. When we took a careful peek inside, we discovered she had five tiny eggs! So cute. (I also read that the male wren starts the nest with a foundation of twigs, and the female builds upon it weaving in moss and leaves.) This image will become part of my print and note card series, which will be available in my shop later this spring.
Color pencils on gray paper. There’s also gold paint embellishments dripping from the poppies~ (that’s shiny in the light). New basic black frame w/glass, double white mat with added gold trim.
