Carnotaurus

Original Art by Owen Weber

Carnotaurus was a South American theropod that lived in the Late Cretaceous period, 71-69 million years ago.  It was about 25 ft. long and is particularly known for its two horns on its head and its strangely small stubby arms.  Carnotaurus possibly preyed on sauropods, or long-necked dinosaurs, this wasn’t always common among theropods, but carnotaurs may have worked together to take down one of these large creatures.  It was also one of the fastest theropods to ever live, it is thought to be able to run at speeds of up to 25 mph.  Its arms were most likely vestigial, as they have no elbows and measure about 1.6 ft long.
