”

I’ve always marveled at the resemblance between the circular halos of renaissance icons and the red roundness of the southwestern Sun. I find myself marrying their meanings in my pieces. The life-giving Sun behind the head of a beautiful creature is my version of a catholic saint. I view all non-human life on earth especially animals as pure from the hubris and greed of war-mongering humans. The purity I see in animals almost demands I give them a halo in my work.
