I envisioned an androgynous avatar for an oracle, a poppy, curious being looking at us as much as we’re looking at them. Eyes reflecting all the things, but it’s up to us to place the colors…
(In an attempt to work less nitpicky, I used cold-press watercolor paper to force a toothy surface and lean into the sfumato of graphite and a little bit of charcoal, both black and white. The eye sockets are full of iridescent rhinestones and the fun, rickrack frame is black matte plastic, with glass glazing.)
The drawing is 4.5″ x 6.5″, framed to 9″ x 11″.
