Nereid

Nereid was created using acrylic, gold leaf, ink, and painted on Fabriano hot press watercolor paper. I have lived very close to redwood forests and the ocean most of my life, and find myself creating many forest inspired pieces but not as many ocean inspired ones. I wanted to create a painting that combined my love of mythology (nereids are oceanic nymphs in Greek mythology), the beauty of the ocean, and the feeling of tranquility and reminder to go with the flow of every day life. Nereid is 4″x6″ and enclosed in a distressed cream colored frame, ready to hang – outer dimensions are 8″x10″.

Caitlin Fowler is an artist based in Northern California. Her work is narrative based, gravitating towards the realm of dreaminess and dark fantasy with a feminine, ethereal feel. While she finds inspiration in everyday life and occurrences, her biggest influences have been mythology, folklore, literature, psychology and the natural world. She works primarily with mixed media using ink, acrylic washes, and colored pencil.
