Necro Beetle

The Necro Beetle is a psychopomp who heralds the beginning of the journey into the afterlife. With it’s ominous chirping that can only be heard by the soul who’s time is near, it signals that the veil is lifting and a reaper is drawing close to collect their quarry.

This painting is inspired by my love for dark fantasy and beautiful insects. My current collection of work is focused on these small creatures, and how they could be of the fae or other realms.

The painting is done in watercolor and gouache. The resin frame was originally sculpted by me, and is custom poured with gold leaf and a special magnetic pigment. It is extremely hard to photograph, but there is a stunning green tigers eye pattern in the frame! It comes with an attached chain for hanging and a certificate of authenticity.
