This piece has been in my head for months. I was lucky enough to acquire a Kingfisher skeleton on one of my travels.
He sat on the dashboard the whole drive home and inspired this little poem.
“The Kingfisher had lost his sight, he knew not how or why.
It matters not, his hunting partner has a steady eye.”
