A little different lighting here to show the surface texture.

This started as a simple painting exercise to loosen up a bit. I used a small palette knife and a couple old-n-crappy brushes and just started applying lots of paint – building up thick impasto texture and seeing what came out of it. By the end, it had become a youthful gorgon – because snakes for hair!
