Susan Shorter
Susan Shorter is a traditional fantasy artist, author, and graphic designer residing in the Midwest. Susan got her start as a staff children’s book illustrator for Author Solutions and has worked consistently in the publishing industry since 2007. During that time, she has illustrated over 500 books as well as writing and illustrating two of her own, Incredible Pebbles and It's a Muddy World.
Susan’s heart lies in creating artwork with a natural theme, primarily working in watercolors or pencil on toned paper. Growing up on eighty acres of beautiful woodlands, with a teacher/musician mother and a mystery novelist father, meant that magic and inspiration were around every corner.
Throughout her career, she has been involved with a variety of projects, from being the sketch artist for The Dead Files on the Travel Channel, to hosting her own art podcast, “The Shorter Artist Hour.” She is currently the Art Director for Soundbooth Theater, creating works for Audible as well as our own SBT Titles.
Susan is a member of ASFA (the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists) and is a frequent exhibitor in the convention and gallery circuit. Her work can be seen in the respected art annual Infected By Art (volumes 4,9,12,13).
