Motherhood among the Trolls

I’ve been thinking about motherhood among the trolls.  In folklore, trolls love their children as we love ours, only they’re tougher and wilder and maybe they do not handle their infants as carefully as we handle our own.  Other the other hand, troll babies seem to be wilder and tougher than human babies, and trolls are said to be still living in the mountains and caves of northern Europe, so I guess it all works out.

“Motherhood” is entirely a recent personal work, drawn from a recent idea and finished (for once) without a lot of dilly-dallying. I imagined the troll mother toting her baby under her arm like a small pig, and the baby, perfectly happy, grabbing at the tip of her tail. And so it was painted.

“Motherhood…” is a 5”x7” watercolor sketch on hot-press watercolor paper. It ships matted and framed, with a signed Certificate of Authenticity from the artist.  No rights are transferred with sale. Any import fees are the responsibility of the buyer. Shipping to the UK and EU is unavailable due to VAT and related paperwork.
