A New Sun, Holland Glen

Welcome back to spring.

I can’t help but look forward to the warmth and sunlight, and yet today’s painting is a look back.  On my way to work every day I pass by a little parking lot tucked in among tall standing pines.  The path at Holland Glen snakes up and around a deceptively rocky terrain before plunging into a series of cool valleys.  The sun had finally begun to find its way through the trees, and the morning mist drenched the background in a subtle purple, pierced here and there by shafts of warm light.
