I Swear, I Just Laid Down Here For A Moment…

by Breeyn

I’ve had a bit of a rough summer, and I did a LOT of hiking on the Bruce Trail of the Niagara Escarpment to ground and seek some peace. There is one area at the top where the forest gives to a long low meadow where golden and lavender ground cover spreads out under a huge sky. I hike late, so I hit this area around sunset, when everything is gold and pink – it all smells amazing. It is so peaceful. I managed to evoke that in this piece, and I’m glad, because I can remember that instead of negative things when I think back on summer 2024.

A sleeping knight who has just taken off his helmet and gauntlets, laid down for a quick rest in the lavender and golden rod, resting on a hand-built frame with scroll detail. Created by hand-sculpting sequin armour, yupo bone and golden sequin plants and stitched onto the illusion. Piece measures 8 inches by 16 1/4 inches (h x w). Ready to hang.
